Centelsa by Nexans and Hilti Colombia, reach an agreement to enhancing safety and efficiency in the construction of solar projects
Jul 17, 2025
New & Improved Version of EXO-S.
Centelsa by Nexans and Hilti Colombia reach an agreement to incorporate the Hilti Exoskeleton as part of the Nexans Integrated Offer, enhancing safety and efficiency in the construction of solar projects
Nexans conducted a study focused on solar projects in Colombia, Peru, and Chile, which included visits to more than 15 projects and interviews with over 45 people in various roles. This work made it possible to identify more than 200 pain points and needs present during the execution of the project, related to the installation of structures, equipment, and the laying of different types of cabling.
Among the main issues identified, repetitive physical effort stood out—associated with tasks such as the mounting and fastening of solar panels, as well as their electrical connection. Due to the intensity, frequency, and duration of these activities, which are performed with arms raised above shoulder level, musculoskeletal injuries may occur in the shoulders, neck, and back of the installation personnel.
In response to this issue, Centelsa by Nexans has incorporated the Safety Kit: Hilti EXO-S Exoskeleton into its Solar Integrated Offer. This is a solution that could reduce fatigue, improve ergonomics, comfort, efficiency, and reliability for installation personnel, helping to prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
“ For Hilti, promoting safer installations is essential. That is why we found that this alliance with Centelsa by Nexans aligns with our organizational strategy—working together to promote worker safety, efficiency in solar projects, and driving the energy transition ”
David Acuña
Business Developer Hilti Colombia“ According to the Annual Report on Occupational Health and Safety, 40% of injuries in the energy sector correspond to musculoskeletal disorders, making the development of new solutions that mitigate risks, and provide comfort and safety to workers, key to protecting people in the performance of their daily work. Nexans goes beyond cables, including in our integrated offer solutions that improve safety—such as the Hilti Exoskeleton, which helps mitigate risks for electrical installers who are building the Electrification of the Future. ”
