- Mindful consumption, efficiency, and conservation are the cornerstones of today's energy landscape.
- Risks tied to climate variables and a reliance on water resources continue to fuel public concern over the nation's energy supply.
Bogotá, May 2025 – Encouraging news has just arrived for the country: according to the Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG), the nation's energy supply is guaranteed through 2028, following the conclusion of auctions held under Resolution 101 062 of 2024. This announcement offers a sigh of relief amid widespread concern about energy supply—a topic that continues to worry the public, especially those who envision a more diverse, sustainable, and efficient energy matrix.
However, the challenges have not disappeared. A heavy dependence on hydropower and the risks associated with climate change keep the conversation alive about the need to transition to a more resilient energy system. This situation serves as an urgent call for companies and industry authorities to join forces and find solutions that meet present needs without compromising the future.
In response, industry players like Centelsa by Nexans are leveraging their experience and expertise to offer recommendations for more conscious energy use and to promote joint conservation efforts among Colombians. “The current landscape demands that we act responsibly and with the future in mind. This will enable better decision-making and more efficient use of the country's available energy,” stated Martha Sepúlveda, Solar and Grid Offer Manager at Centelsa by Nexans.
1 .Be Mindful of Consumption: Regularly reviewing energy bills, identifying unusual spikes, and unplugging unused appliances are simple steps that help prevent unnecessary expenses and promote more responsible energy use.
2. Prioritize Efficiency: Choosing appliances with an energy efficiency label (preferably A-rated), taking advantage of natural light, and, if possible, considering solutions like solar panels are decisions that not only protect your wallet but also the environment.
3. Focus on Quality and Safety: Selecting original, high-quality products is essential. Counterfeit devices are not only less efficient but can also cause overloads and even serious accidents.
Additionally, it is important to have your electrical wiring system periodically inspected by a specialist to identify potential faults and update it to meet your current electrical load demands.
“We hope that through the coordinated efforts of Colombians, companies, and authorities, we can make efficient use of available resources and build greater awareness for a just and sustainable future for all,” reiterated Martha Sepúlveda. This adds to a call for the continued promotion and development of energy generation projects that will increase the available reserve.
