According to figures from the Ministry of Energy, Ecuador has increased its electricity consumption by 8.6%, a trend that aligns with the goal of finding sustainable energy sources. In this context, the launch of the Centelsa by Nexans brand on August 3rd in the city of Guayaquil marks a milestone for the local energy sector, as it now has a strategic ally in the market to efficiently respond to the growth in commercial, industrial, and residential energy demand.

During the event, Jorge Garrido, Commercial Director of Centelsa by Nexans Ecuador, emphasized that globally, there is a need to move towards clean and decarbonized energy generation. The brand's proposition and its arrival in the country mark the beginning of a new era of sustainable electrification for the nation, capitalizing on the significant opportunities offered by the unconventional renewable energy segment (solar and wind).

In 2021, 92% of the country's electricity came from hydroelectric plants, 7% from thermal sources, and 1% from non-conventional sources (such as photovoltaic, wind, biomass, biogas, geothermal, among others). Centelsa by Nexans offers a wide range of solutions that cover the entire electrification chain, from generation and distribution to energy usage, which could contribute to improving the percentage of renewable energy consumption.

Nexans is a French Group present in 42 countries, a leader in manufacturing electrical conductors and wiring solutions for the entire electrification chain. In 2022, Nexans acquired Centelsa, a high-quality electrical cable manufacturer in Latin America, with an investment of $225 million dollars. This investment also extends to the Ecuadorian market due to its significant potential as a growing market and its commitment to transitioning towards decarbonization of the energy matrix.

Centelsa by Nexans represents the merger of Centelsa, a sector leader in Latin America with over 60 years of experience in the Colombian market, and Nexans, a global leader in electrical conductor manufacturing. Together, they provide electrification solutions tailored to the Latin American market, backed by their Design Lab, located in the city of Cali, Colombia. This lab is dedicated to developing solutions based on the needs and experiences of customers in the Andean region.

In this way, the launch of the Centelsa by Nexans brand represents a new ally for the country, creating solutions that are attuned to the electrification needs of the market.
